Andrea Johnson, a program officer in Carnegie Corporationís International Program, currently works on gender equity in African higher education; university strengthening in Nigeria; and capacity development in African universities in fundraising, research management, and financial management. As an active participant in the Partnership for Higher Education in Africa, she represents the Corporation on the ICT Working Group. A generalist by training and inclination, her previous areas of program work include democratic transitions in Africa, development assistance reform, and public and policymaker education about Africa. Prior to joining the Corporation, she served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Ecuador, where she worked on potable water projects at the village level. She is also a trained community organizer. She has degrees in economics and international affairs and is working on her doctorate in public administration.
