Jonathan Friedman has been involved with the Partnership for Higher Education in Africa (PHEA) since December 2007. As a short-term consultant he analyzed the PHEA grants database for entry discrepancies. In 2008 he compiled a database on African research and postgraduate training fellowships available to applicants from the nine PHEA partner countries. Jonathan served on the Organizing Committee for the PHEA-sponsored University Leaders' Forum in Accra, assisting in the logistical coordination of both the planning for the Forum and its execution in November 2008. As Project Associate he now maintains the PHEA grants database, manages financial records and supports internal communication between the PHEA secretariat and the foundation program officers. Jonathan helps to review and edit reports submitted to the Partnership prior to publication. He provides research assistance for ongoing PHEA initiatives.
Jonathan has dual Bachelor's degrees in Education and History from York University in Toronto. He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in international education at New York University, with a focus on higher education and development in Africa.
